goodbye summer
Even though there are still 10 weeks of summer, I feel like my favorite season is practically over. In my mind, it's practically Christmas. (Ok, that might be a little dramatic.) Its just that after the Fourth of July, summer FLIES by. It never fails and there is no slowing it down. WORK days even go by insanely fast... and that is saying something.
Yesterday, the hub and I were talking about camping, a favorite pastime of ours. We were trying to identify ONE weekend between now and October that we could take off and get out in the wilderness for some quality camping... we could not find one weekend that was free. We've got a christening, a birthday party, a concert, a baby shower, traveling for work... if it isn't one thing, its the other.
I feel like something is going on EVERY weekend from now until eternity.
UGH. (My favorite Monday groan.)
I love having a life and being a social butterfly but sometimes... sometimes I just want to slow it all down. As soon as we come off one weekend adventure, we're planning for the next. It's gotten to the point where we spend time with friends planning the next get together... rather than just enjoying the time we are spending THEN.
My gripe is that I just hate to see summer go by so fast. It is my favorite season - and it always comes and goes so damn quick. :(

It is fun to be social but I know what you mean sometimes you just want an all about me weekend..
Better make the summer super fun and make every hot minute count :-)
i feel the same way - the seasons go by WAY too fast :( i like to try and have a weekend here and there with NO plans just so we can relax and be at home... but usually those weekends get filled with a ton of stuff that needs to be done since we are busy all the other weekends. hope you can find a weekend to camp!!
6 months till Christmas, let the shopping begin!
You'll have to try and make sure you find a day where you can just sit back relax and do nothing. We go through periods where there is something happening every weekend and then there are periods where nothing is going on. I wish it would be more balanced.
It's all about enjoying the "Now" :P Did you read those books yet? I see you have both of Tolle's books in your widget ;-) Good stuff.
I hear ya. However once your prego its weird you find a lot of time to do nothing or those things you never have time for. I don't know how it happens or why but it does ;-) Maybe thats the answer LOL! Seriously tho your right. We need to take the time to enjoy what we have in the present. However when its so much fun how can you want to not do it again. You've got lots of weeks left. Can you take a weekday off and make a mini trip?
I feel the same way! Especially now that I live in the Northwest where summer didn't even start until a week ago! I LOVE summertime...the long hot days...the sun beating down on me, ahhhhhhhh.
J and I also are having a hard time finding time between now and October to just hang out. I think there is one weekend in August that's free but the rest are filled with visitors, vacation plans, and picking up our puppy! All fun stuff but sometimes just having a moment to breathe (or get your hair done) on the weekends is nice =).
i feel the same exact way! i hibernate all winter and then my summer is booked from start to finish. i agree with marissa... see if you can find a week that isn't too cramped and BREATHE.
Don't start the summer eulogy just yet. That's funny because - for me - the 4th is usually the START of summer. Kid events (school, baseball, etc) take us right up to the 4th and then, finally, we are free for a few months.
